In my end is my beginning

Four Quartets 2: EAST COKER

Written in 1940.

T.S. Eliot

Part V

We must be still and still moving
Into another intensity
For a further union, a deeper communion
Through the dark cold and the empty desolation,
The wave cry, the wind cry, the vast waters
Of the petrel and the porpoise. In my end is my beginning

Psalm 36:8-9

Ps 36:8 They feast on the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from your river of delights.
Ps 36:9 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.
